چکیده

methods (balloons with jets, leaks or even needles, coated stents, etc.) are too rough for the tiny endothelial and subendothelial tissues. Despite reports about the feasibility and safety of different local drug delivery devices, their clinical effectiveness has yet to be proved. Increased risk of arterial thrombosis after local delivery of some drugs is one major issue, but probably the most important limitation is the greater extent of tissue injury by local drug delivery devices. This additional injury may stimulate more neointimal hyperplasia and thus counterbalance the potential benefit of locally delivered drug. The fight against restenosis is a 20-year viscious circle. Up to now, local intracoronary drug delivery seems not to have broken this circle. New, entirely different approaches — intrapericardial drug delivery, radioactive stents and intracoronary radiation therapy may help break this circle in near future. P. Does a well developed collateral circulation predispose to restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention? An intravascular ultrasound study.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether a well developed collateral circulation predisposes to restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). DESIGN Prospective observational study. PATIENTS AND SETTING 58 patients undergoing elective single vessel PCI in a tertiary referral interventional cardiac unit in the UK. METHODS Collateral flow index (CFI) was calculated as (Pw-Pv)/(Pa-Pv), whe...

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

Coronary collaterals and risk for restenosis after percutaneous coronary interventions: a meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The benefit of the coronary collateral circulation (natural bypass network) on survival is well established. However, data derived from smaller studies indicates that coronary collaterals may increase the risk for restenosis after percutaneous coronary interventions. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies was to explore the impact of the coll...

Dynamic changes in purine catabolism in patients with acute coronary syndrome that underwent percutaneous coronary intervention

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are global problems. They are causes of death in about 43% of people worldwide and may become the most widespread reason of death by 2020. The prognosis is directly dependent to immediate diagnosis and on time treatment. Introduction of new biochemical markers as the early diagnosis of complications after coronary revascularization is very important in this p...

The value of myocardial perfusion imaging with Tc-99m MIBI for the prediction of perfusion improvement after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty

Introduction: Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is an effective method for revascularizing of stenotic coronary vessels. Lack of response to this treatment, either in symptomatic or asymptomatic patients, is usually due to incomplete revascularization, restenosis, and/or irreversibility of myocardial perfusion. Introduction of a noninvasive metho...
